Godparents

Before Adeline was born, when she was only known as Baby A., Tim and I often discussed who we would like be her godparents. We decided to ask our friends, Derek and Kelly Brown. Derek and Tim went to West Point together, meeting in math class and sealing their bond as teammates on the sprint football team. The guys were also neighbors at flight school and both were stationed at Fort Hood for their first duty station. We met Derek's future wife at Fort Rucker, but didn't establish a friendship there. When the two got engaged she moved from Alabama to Texas and we became great friends. When the guys were deployed, Kelly and I hung out all the time--attending church, weekly eats at our favorite Mexican restaurant, days at the lake, movies, shopping at the local market and so on. She helped make the deployment survivable and I made a wonderful life-long friend in Tim's absence. When the guys returned from Afghanistan, we met the couple in Florida to celebrate their wedding on the beach. Since then, we've seen the pair in Memphis for a friend's wedding and Derek came to Ft. Bliss for a  work trip. Whenever we are with them their faith is evident in speech and action. If anything ever happened to me and Tim, we believe they would do a phenomenal job of teaching Adeline about God and Christ and helping her establish a passionate love for The Bible.
Thank you Derek and Kelly for doing us the honor of being Addie's godparents!
