How to Get Out of the Morning Funk

Day 36
I've never been a morning person, but having a toddler and a military spouse doesn't really give me the option anymore; I have to be a morning person. And sometimes, a 4 A.M. person. That's the time Tim received his first phone call this morning from work. I'm a super light sleeper so when something interrupts my rest it's a real challenge to fall back asleep. Between Tim's phone ringing, his getting ready for work, and the garbage trucks roaring (all before 5 A.M.), there was no chance I would gain a few more Z's. Initially, I was beyond frustrated! Then, I realized this was an opportunity for me to spend some extra time with God and enjoy time praising Him before the hectic nature of the day even had a chance to wake.

40 Day Challenge--Day 36:

The next time you can't fall asleep, or you're woken up without a chance to catch a full night's rest, spend time enjoying a conversation with God that you would otherwise miss. Put your exhaustion and frustration aside and embrace some blessed unforeseen time with the Lord.

I do a similar thing when i have trouble falling asleep. I heard once that if you can't sleep it means that someone needs your prayer, not sure how true that is. But i think its a great thing to do when you can't sleep! So instead of "counting sheep" I pray through the ABC's, thanking or asking God for things or people that starts with each letter! Usually i don't get too far before I'm asleep. :)
