The Sound You Can't Forget

Tim and Addie's recent art project (major points for my hubby!)
Since moving to Tucson, I've continued my training to be a client advocate at a local pregnancy center called Hands of Hope. By this weekend, my formal training will end and I'll only have a couple more observations to complete before I can start counseling women faced with unplanned pregnancies. I feel God's calling upon me to enter this ministry and I am beyond eager (and nervous) to begin sharing options information and the love of Christ with each woman I encounter at the center.

At a recent fundraiser banquet for Hands of Hope, I was deeply moved by the below sound clip that illustrates the number of children that have been lost to abortion, in comparison to the number of soldiers/heros that have sacrificed their lives for our country. This is something I think everyone should listen to in order to understand the impact of abortion. The effect is overwhelming.
Please understand that I in NO WAY condemn the mothers who have experienced an abortion, but feel sincere compassion and heartache for their loss and subsequent grief. It's not our place to judge those who choose abortion, but rather to support and love these women to choose life for their child, and to share the knowledge of God's forgiveness. However, it is necessary that we fight to end this legal killing of God's children.

At the banquet, one of Tucson's pastors shared a comparison between slavery and abortion. His message was hopeful in that for hundreds of years our country supported slavery, but with the presence of Abraham Lincoln slavery eventually came to an end. The pastor wondered aloud who the man or woman would be that ends legalized abortion for our generation. It made me realize that the end of abortion is a very real possibility!

Live Action's president, Lila Rose (age 26), was the guest speaker for our evening. She gave a passionate speech about each of our unique role's in ending abortion--through financial giving, prayer, volunteering, etc. One of the statistics she gave truly stuck me: One in five people in our generation was lost due to an abortion. Twenty percent of my generation is missing! It made me wonder what contributions to society God had planed for every one of those children, that our world will never witness.

Whether you've considered abortion, experienced an abortion, are active in the pro-life movement, or have never really thought much about the issue, I ask you to pray about your role in aiding to end abortion. It's not an impossible feat.

"Jesus looked at them and said, 'With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.'" --Matthew 19:26
