Welcome, Friend!

I am a former high school English teacher, enjoying the blessing (and utter craziness) of being a stay-at-home and homeschooling mom. My husband, Tim, is an Apache helicopter pilot in the Army. Tim and I met in high school English class and married after college. Our fifteen years in the military have found us stationed at Ft. Rucker, AL; Ft. Hood, TX; Ft. Bliss, TX; West Point, NY; and Ft. Leavenworth, KS. Currently, we are stationed at Fort Bragg, NC. We have three children--a strong-willed and kind-hearted daughter named Adeline; our sweet adrenaline-seeker, Lincoln; and our joyful and humorous, Isla. With our transient lifestyle and all the unknowns that the Army hands us, our faith in Christ keeps us grounded and able to handle whatever comes our way, trusting in God's plan for our family.

20 Things About Us

1. God is at the center of our family.

2. Tim's helicopter was shot down in Afghanistan during his first deployment in 2010.

3. In 2011, I received the National Math and Science Initiative Advanced Placement All American Teacher of the Year Award.

4. Adeline's name means sweet and noble. Her middle name, Claire, is in honor of Tim's grandfather, Clarence.

5. My true maiden name is Russo, not Ross. My Italian grandfather changed it after his brother first adapted his.

6. We sponsor a child in Mozambique, Africa through World Vision. His name is Himoni.

7. Tim and I hope to celebrate our anniversary each year by vacationing somewhere new, if the Army lets us. We are currently at a 25 percent success rate.

8. Each of our children was born in a different state (Texas, Arizona, and New York). Welcome to the Army!

9. I participated in my church's challenge to read the Bible in 90 days. (It took me 150.)

10. If you have questions or concerns about your children in the following areas then know that I'm your gal: early intervention, occupational therapy, food allergies, sensory processing issues, or mental health.

11. Our dog, Wilma, is a special needs dog
(diagnosed with megaesophagus).

12. I subscribe to the organic, chemical-free, natural lifestyle. My husband is massively skeptical and banned me from cleaning with vinegar.

13. I hope to adopt a child one day.

14. I was baptized while pregnant with Adeline.

15. I became a believer in Jesus at the age of 23 while reading Max Lucado's 3:16--The Numbers of Hope.

16. Tim led a praise band while serving in Afghanistan. He plays piano, drums, cello, and sings.

17. One of my goals in life is to be a traditionally published author.
18. While stationed at West Point, we lost most of our material possessions due to uninhabitable levels of mold. We now suffer with mold hypersensitivity, asthma, lung disease and other complications.

19. The spiritual meaning of Lincoln is victorious and his middle name, James, is in honor of my grandfather.

20. Our third child's name is Isla Charlotte. The spiritual meaning of Isla is dedicated to God and her middle name is in honor of my grandmother, Charlotte.
