36 Weeks

Wow--it's the start of the NINTH month! Most days I can't believe that there are only weeks left until we meet out son, but others have me wishing he was here already. The knowledge that this is my last month with Addie to myself makes me want to slow down every day until he arrives, and embrace my time with her. I cannot WAIT to see Addie with her brother, but a part of me is sad that it won't be just the two of us anymore (in no way related to the eager anticipation of his arrival!).

On the physical front, I'm feeling rather uncomfortable, mostly in the hips and back. My body is definitely getting ready for his appearance! My nausea has been a little better the past couple weeks, not lasting so far into the morning. I'm peeing about every half hour to hour during the day, and about every two hours at night, ugh.  And HELLO acid reflux! My oh my! Tums have certainly entered the scene at this point. Don't get me wrong, I know I'm blessed to be going through these bodily changes as our son prepares to enter our lives, it's just not always super enjoyable =).

Below is an update on baby's development during week 36, from Baby Center:

Your baby is still packing on the pounds — at the rate of about an ounce a day. He now weighs almost 6 pounds and is more than 18 1/2 inches long. He's shedding most of the downy covering of hair that covered his body as well as the vernix caseosa, the waxy substance that covered and protected his skin during her nine-month amniotic bath. Your baby swallows both of these substances, along with other secretions, resulting in a blackish mixture, called meconium, will form the contents of her first bowel movement.
Comparison belly shot (no 36 week shot of Addie, but here's her 35 week shot).
