40 Weeks Update

From The Bump:

Baby's now the size of a jackfruit!
As long as she's in your belly, baby's hair and nails will continue to grow, and her lungs will keep developing. She's anywhere from 5 to 11 pounds and is getting ready for a slightly gooey introduction any day now. (Upon arrival, baby will probably be covered in blood, vernix caseosa, lanugo, and amniotic fluid.)

From What to Expect:

Congratulations! This week marks the official end of your pregnancy. Your baby probably weighs anywhere from six to nine pounds and measures between 19 and 22 inches (though tons of perfectly healthy babies are smaller or bigger). The bones in his skull haven’t fused yet — Mother Nature’s way of making it easier to get through the birth canal during labor and delivery. He now has enough fat under the skin to maintain his body temperature outside the womb (with a little help from those cute outfits and swaddling blankets that you’ve been stocking up on!). You (or actually the placenta) are still providing the antibodies he’ll need to fight off infections for the first six months of his life. And if you plan on breastfeeding, your milk will be giving him more antibodies that’ll boost his immune system.

Hi Hon,
You described the way "Our" little girl is going to enter the world in such a "Beautiful Manner",gooey and all, very poetic!!!!!! Thats my Grandaughter your talking about, she'll come out just perfect, won't even need to be cleaned up,she'll be glowing ,like you, well maybe my first guess might be right-6lbs 9oz-20 1/2 lbs-hopefully for your sake. I talked to your Aunt Cathy and she said of all the Baby showers she's gone to,that was the "BEST",without a doubt. She said she couldn't believe the "GLOW" in you, your happiness was contagious. Tell Tim I said Hello and I wish I could be there to help him with you,I truky am sorry I can't. The next one!!!!!! I love and miss you both,I mean all 3,Love Dad-Hon,should it be Poppi or Poppy???? Your's and tim's take on this is very important,so give it some thought,OK?

Ashley, I remember telling your Dad there is nothing like having your own child. And what a blessing you were Ashley. But Al just wait until the new baby girl arrives. Grandchildren are the light of your life. Can't wait. Love Aunt Jean
