A Little Spring Sprucing

Enjoying an Alabama spring day

As most of you know, my dad went running into the arms of Jesus a little over a week ago. (A post about my dad is on the way.) I quickly became overwhelmed with the emotions and logistics involved with the loss of a parent. When I was in the heaviest part of grieving and planning, my body felt like it had welcomed another child into the world--sheer exhaustion, endless responsibilities, unfamiliar emotions, and the fog of sleeplessness. I decided I needed some "me time" to break away. In order to regain the necessary energy to continue moving forward with my father's passing, I had to to occupy my mind with something completely unrelated.

With that, I chose to spruce up the appearance of my blog. I decided to simplify the design and make the site more user friendly (hopefully). I am, by no means,
proficient in coding, Because of that, Weebly continues to be the perfect web host for me. It's all drag and drop. Want a new theme? Pick and click. Done. A couple years ago I learned a little coding, utilized some helpful widgets, and designed a logo, which was all a start to being more intentional with Our Faithful Home. If I still had Adobe Photoshop and the time to use it, I would probably redo my logo again, but that's not on the list right now. I may still edit over the days and weeks to come, as I have new ideas or tweak fonts and formatting. I also welcome your feedback! If something new doesn't make sense or isn't functioning properly, or if you have ideas for how I can improve the site further, please contact me!

For now, here's what's new:
  • Theme
  • An old-fashioned home page
  • The home page displays pics you can click on of my most recent posts
  • Redesigned footer
  • New author and site description
  • Edited About page
  • The blog page no longer appears as an endless soliloquy. You'll see an abbreviated version of each post. You can click "read more" to see the entire post or quickly move on to another one that interests you more
  • The blog page isn't cluttered up by a side bar; you can see all previous sidebar content on the new home page
  • Header pictures for each page
  • I hid the old blog page and it's archived posts, so only the newest posts are accessible. If you like to look back from time to time or refer to something I've posted, let me know and I can make it visible again. If I ever have the time, I'm considering adding some new tabs under the blog page that will make certain post topics available, such as parenting, marriage, faith, and children's activities.
I hope you enjoy this streamlined version of OFH. Now, let's see if it's functional...
