At a Casting Crowns concert four years ago I learned about Wold Vision and was immediately captivated by the organization's mission to help those in need in the name of Christ. At a break in the concert, World Vision volunteers were scattered across the arena handing out cards with a picture, name, and description of a child that needed aide. God gave us Agnel Tomas from Mozambique, Africa. He has five brothers and three sisters, and enjoys playing soccer. Sadly, Agnel's community is severely affected by AIDS and his parents are struggling to provide for their family. Our monthly donation assists World Vision in supporting Agnel's family and minimizing the impact of AIDS through prevention and care programs. The organization provides us with cards to send him for the holidays and random little gifts. Thanks to technology, we can also email him letters. And we have fantastic opportunity to finance a birthday party for him each year, cake and all =). Today Agnel celebrates his 15th birthday! Praise God he has lived to see this day. Tim and I hope to travel to Mozambique one day and meet Agnel. I can't even begin to fathom what an amazing experience that would be! When Tim gets out of the military and our kids are settled I would LOVE to work in the field with World Vision!!! God has certainly broken my heart for what breaks His in the desperate need of these children. As we celebrate Agnel today, please consider sponsoring a child through World Vision. I guarantee it will bless your life! Dear God, Thank your immensely for bringing Agnel into our lives. On his birthday I wish this for him: health, comfort, security, education, salvation, peace, and trust in You. May He experience Your love each day and continue to grow in Christ. Please also bless World Vision with the provisions they need to aide these children and their families. In Jesus' name, Amen.
