Adventures of Reflux

Well, Addie's reflux took another turn this morning. Last night I noticed some little red bumps on her face and by morning they had spread all over her face, ears, and neck. I thought it might be the new medicine she started this week and called to make an appointment at the Saturday clinic on post. Luckily, there was an available slot and we were seen an hour after I called. When I changed Adeline for her appointment her body seemed a little warm and sure enough, she had a low-grade fever when we got to the office. Since Addie's been born we've seen three different doctors/nurse practitioners. Unfortunately, this clinic doesn't set you up with the same person each time, you just get whoever is available. This morning, however, we saw the same doctor who conducted Addie's first appointment. He said the rash didn't look like hives (the bumps were smoother) so it probably wasn't a reaction to the medicine. He commented that the Prevacid that she started this week must really be helping her, but I informed him it hadn't made one bit of difference. He said that in that case, the rash may be from her constant vomiting. He went to check her dosage and was shocked that she was prescribed 700 percent below the right dosage for her weight, mentioning that the nurse practitioners are usually too cautious with their dosages. He wants Addie to try this new dosage for the next week and if her reflux still doesn't improve then we are to start giving her the new amount twice a day, instead of just once. The doctor gave us the name of another pediatrician who specializes in gastroenterology that we should see because she's not gaining enough weight for her age.  Hopefully we can get an appointment with him soon. We gave Addie the new dosage this morning after her appointment, but there was no change today. She projectile vomited all day and started having nasal reflux, too--poor thing! It's so hard to watch her suffer =(. All prayers for her health would be greatly appreciated!
