All I Want for Christmas is Sleep

I can't accurately express my excitement when on Saturday night Tim said he would take care of Adeline and let me sleep in on Sunday morning. What fantastic news considering I haven't slept in for an entire year. Had Tim not been deployed I know the story would be different, but I was eager to finally embrace a couple extra hours of sleep. Sunday morning arrived and before I even heard her make a peep, Tim was out of bed and heading off to prepare her milk and take care of the pups. Yes! Time to sleep! I grabbed my phone and turned on my white noise app to block out any Addie-noise that may arise. And then reality happened...

Through the white noise I heard Adeline pitching a fit in her room - turned up the white noise a liiittle louder. Then I heard crying in the living room, crying in the kitchen. Bang, slam, boom, smell of bacon, more crying...momentary peace and quiet...followed by...whining and screaming. And then in marches my husband carrying a tray of breakfast in bed, 45 minutes after I was supposed to sleep in, never having returned to sleep in the first place. (Let me remind you it was my first opportunity to do so in 12 months.) I'm going to go out on a limb and guess he needed me up to help out with the girl and thought breakfast in bed would be a nice way to break it to me. Thanks, Honey, for the sweet gesture, but next time I'll skip the breakfast in bed and take a side of sleep!
