Anniversary Celebration

8/1/2014

It's hard to believe that Tim and I celebrated our FIFTH wedding anniversary this past week! Our goal is to get away each year on our anniversary; however, the Army's plan for our lives hasn't always worked accordingly. Fortunately, this year the military allowed us to be in the same country to celebrate our anniversary together. We decided to do a week in Cozumel, Mexico at an all inclusive resort. This way we could just relax and enjoy each other's company, without being touristy. When we booked the trip I was still feeling very ill with pregnancy symptoms and we figured that no matter how I was feeling when the vacation rolled around, this trip would allow us to be on our own schedule and I could rest whenever I needed.

We actually started out our trip in Atlanta, Georgia due to flight scheduling. We stayed overnight until our plane took us to Cozumel the following morning. When we arrived to Secrets, we had to switch rooms three times due to plumbing issues, but the hotel finally upgraded us to a beautiful room in the "preferred section" to compensate us for the inconvenience. Our third room was beautiful and housed the bathtub of my dreams! After the adventures of day one, all we really did was relax at the pool or the beach, read, and EAT. With a baby on the way I relished in the quiet, free time, and serenity.

On our anniversary we ordered in breakfast, got massages, snorkeled, wrote and read each other renewed vows on the beach at sunset (cliche, yes, but meaningful), and enjoyed an Italian dinner on the water.

By the end of the trip we couldn't wait to get home to our girl, but the airlines had other plans in mind. We got stuck in Atlanta due to mechanical issues and had to stay another night away from Addie. The hotel was really nice that Delta put us up in, though, and the view made me feel like I was in Ireland or something. Greenery everywhere! Happy anniversary, Honey!
