Baptism

Tim and I were both baptized as babies, but we are now going to be baptized as believers in Christ. At our last church in Alabama I felt convicted to be baptized by immersion, as is commanded in the The Bible. We attended a meeting several months ago at the church intending to be baptized there, but we kept putting it off and then we moved back to Texas. A few weeks ago our current church began advertising an upcoming baptism meeting and ceremony and I asked Tim if he wanted to attend with me. This past Sunday we went to the meeting where one of the deacons described what it means to be saved and explained numerous verses from The Bible that command us to be baptized by immersion as soon as one becomes a believer. Our church has a baptism pool outside where we will each be baptized next Sunday. I am eager for this event in our lives and feel it is one more step we can take in developing a closer relationship with God and Jesus. I love the symbolism that as you are submerged in the water your old self dies and you rise a new person in Christ. As the deacon was explaining this  to us I became misty-eyed thinking that our daughter will be inside me as I take this monumental step in my faith, making it even more special. I pray the day comes that she makes the same decision for herself.
