Boy or Girl?

Tonight at 6:00, we will hopefully, on the fourth try, be able to confirm whether we are having a boy or a girl. We have an anatomical ultrasound scheduled where they will check to see that our baby has all its fingers, toes and so on. Most women opt for additional testing at this appointment that can reveal several potential birth defects, such as down syndrome and cystic fibrosis. We decided not to have these tests done as it would not change anything in the plan to have our child. Please pray that all goes well and we have a beautiful, healthy-as-possible baby who is growing wonderfully.

Secondly, my grandma sent me the below video that is absolutely adorable! I had to share this with you. It's a little long at seven minutes, but worth every second. Check out how talented this little girl is as she tells the biblical story of Jonah. I would love to see our little one performing like this in church one day =).

Ash,
Coming from a future pediatric nurse, I have some advice regarding your appointment this evening. I have spent time in the NICU (neonatal intensive care unit), and have seen the results of what can happen when parents opt out of getting those genetic abnormality tests performed. The parents are quite overwhelmed given the other circumstances at hand with a new birth. With the possibility of knowing any anomalies in advanced, it will allow you and Tim more time to research/prepare for any special needs the baby may require. We sincerely hope that the baby is in perfect health; I just wanted to offer some helpful medical tips.

Thank you so much, Brooklyn, for your help! I appreciate all the different opinions we can get. Our doctor just said "OK" when we decided not to get it done, so I'll talk to her at my next appointment and see if its something we can still do. Today we just had a tech and the doc wasn't there. Thanks for your advice =).
