Childbirth Class

9/5/2012

It's getting closer! Tim and I attended a childbirth class yesterday at the hospital on post. Because of his work schedule he's unable to attend my centering appointments, so luckily they offer classes at night in addition. The class covered false vs. true labor, coping techniques, the stages of labor, medication available, and a tour of the labor and delivery floor. Tim held it together well despite learning about the not so lovely parts of pregnancy, like bloody show and mucus plugs. I checked on him half way through and he said he was doing fine. When I talk about this stuff at home he's pretty disgusted, so maybe that was good preparation for him =). He actually commented that the class was  "cool" once we were finished. The nurse who ran the class was highly entertaining and made this scary stage more approachable, although she was extremely honest; many times she said certain things "just sucked," haha. She's been a labor and delivery nurse for over 30 years. We hope she's on the l & d floor when the big day comes! Later this month we have two more classes to attend--infant care and breastfeeding.
