This morning I decided it would be a good day for Adeline to try the church nursery during service. The last couple weeks she's been too curious to fall asleep, even though she was dead tired. All she wants to do is crawl and chat now, so sitting in the pew quietly is no longer an option. I was nervous, of course, as she's only comfortable with a few people, but I know it has to happen at some point. I asked to join her for a couple minutes instead of just handing her off and leaving. I brought her into the play area, gave her a fun toy with lights and sounds and sat her near some kids to keep her busy. She seemed good right away so I slipped out. During the service I kept thinking about her but since she wasn't crying when I left I felt better. The service went about 15 minutes over today, and that was 15 minutes too long for Addie. When we went to get her her poor little eyes were all red and swollen. The nursery worker said she did well the first hour, cried a little on and off but they were able to calm her, and then the last 15 minutes she was inconsolable. Poor baby! All in all, I think it was good for the first time.
