Daddy Daughter Day

1/12/2013

Starting a midnight, Tim and Addie began Daddy Daughter Day. I pumped throughout the night and he bottle fed her each time. He also gave Addie her medicine in the morning and fed the dogs. Basically, he lived a day in my shoes. I slept in until 10 A.M. and then cleaned the house while Tim took care of Adeline, something that's been neglected since we arrived back in town...the house, that is, not Addie =). After cleaning I made our grocery list, which was rather challenging with all my diet restrictions, and headed out to shop. I went to Albertson's for convenience, knowing it would be trickier to find food I could eat than a stop at Sprouts. When I was checking out I received a text from Tim: "When will you be home, " which is code for GET HOME NOW! I called my hubby knowing Adeline would be in hysterics. I blew off my other errands and drove home to find Tim waiting with Addie at the garage door, eager for the hand off. I wanted him to make it until 7 P.M. to see what a full day with her was like, but daddy daughter day ended at 3:45 P.M. Close enough =).

This post made me literally laugh out loud! I've never been around young children/babies for very long, but I'm still very aware of how challenging and busy being a full-time caretaker may be just from seeing glimpses of other people doing it! Kudos to Tim for being up for the challenge, and you have all of my respect for switching from teaching full-time to being a mommy full-time!
