GI Follow-Up

1/31/2013

We finally had our GI follow-up appointment today after having Addie's scans done a couple weeks ago. We knew from the radiologist that she has severe reflux, but we did find out some new information today. Unfortunately, her second scan showed that she aspirated and there was fluid in her left lung. She's fine right now, but we have to watch for coughing and fever as it could be signs of pneumonia if this is happening at other times when she eats. The GI said we may have to consider surgery as an option due to the aspiration. He scheduled Addie for an endoscopy at the Children's Hospital on Tuesday to check for esophagitis now that he knows she has reflux. Addie will have to fast again for three hours to prepare for the test. And the poor baby won't get sedated so she'll be rather unhappy during the scope. The GI is performing the test himself so I'm hoping to get some immediate feedback considering I'm leaving town three days later. I just want to get an effective treatment plan in place for her so she can be comfortable when she eats! Hopefully this is the last test she'll have to endure and then she'll be on the road to feeling good.

At least now there will hopefully be some plan to take of this problem for Addie. She has gone thru so much for a baby. Good luck on tuesday. You are all in our prayers.
