Grandma Comes to Town

My mom came to visit over the long weekend and our daughter couldn't have been more happy had she been at Disneyland. It's quite impressive how the two pick up exactly where they left off with each other, especially considering Adeline is only 15 months old and my mom lives in another state. The time we spent living with my parents while Tim was deployment certainly sealed the bond between grandmother and granddaughter. When my mom first arrived Addie wouldn't leave her lap for a good thirty minutes, just basking in the her grandma's presence. And probably trying to make sure she stayed put!
The next day we took a trip to the zoo (again) and watched Adeline talk to the animals. I was going to say "and walk to her heart's content," but in all actuality she wanted to be held by my mom the majority of the time. We visited the zoo on Valentine's Day so it was sweet to see the giraffes nuzzling together, or so we thought until we noticed they were both males and started to get a little pushy with one another. Adeline also loved sitting atop the tiger statue, pretending she was riding the beast. The pictures of her on the tiger made me realize how big she's getting--not my little baby anymore!
Then we took a trip to Chuck E. Cheese, Addie's first, so she could marvel at all the lights and sound. And did she ever! She was a dancing fool, stopping to bust out her dance moves at every turn and every table. When the mouse did his dance performance Addie thought it best she dance up front with him to demonstrate to all the other kids how it's REALLY done. She rode a couple of the "rides" and played a few games, also took a spin through the tunnels with her dad, but mostly she danced =). As Tim says, I love her confidence!
Except for a trip to the park in our neighborhood, we spent the rest of the weekend around the house where Adeline and my mom played to their heart's content. Pure love between these two!
