Home Improvements

Since I've moved home, we've been slowly working to give my parents house a little TLC. They've been here for almost 20 years and as expected, the home needs a little updating. We started by cleaning up the backyard. In the process, I asked my mom if I could rip up their yucky outdoor carpet on the patio. It had stains and cigarette burns and holes and it was time to go! Without a plan I pulled up the carpet and then began the adventure of trying to remove the adhesive and put a new finish on the concrete. My dad and brother sanded the patio and then I etched it with an acid wash, painted it with a floor and porch paint, and finally sealed it. Once that was complete we strung up some lights, added new cushions to the existing chairs and patio set, potted plants, and added some new decor.  Here are some pics of the final result. I wish we had before and after pics!

Thanks, Aunt Jean! It's been nice having some projects to work on at the house. I even convinced my parents to have a yard sale last weekend =). I'll give your love to everyone; you do the same!
