Right outside the doors of our church is a pregnancy and fatherhood help center. I've eyed it every time we drive by, wondering. And then I moved home for the deployment, forgetting about it. A few weeks ago our church service opened up with the director of this center asking for evening volunteers. YES! I was immediately interested in the center's mission to offer free pregnancy tests, ultrasounds, and counseling sessions in hopes of saving lives, babies lives. In addition, the organization is Christ-based and counselors share the Gospel with each client if they're open to hearing the Message. I filled out an application to volunteer as a pro-life counselor and interviewed for the position last week. The center is brand-new and absolutely beautiful on the inside; I think the upgrades and custom feel would make any woman in distress feel welcome and comfortable. The interview went well and I was excited to learn more about the organization and how I'll be able to counsel women to choose life for their child and share the Bible at the same time. What a truly AWEsome ministry! I start training to be a pro-life counselor in two weeks. It'll most likely be another month or two before I'm able to counsel on my own as I must first sit in on a couple sessions and then be observed before taking on clients of my own. I am beyond eager and grateful for this opportunity to serve! On another pro-life note, I recently received an email from Family Talk about Online for Life. They're also an organization that aides women in choosing life for their children, saving over 1600 babies thus far. Just last month they introduced a new app that I highly encourage you to download. It enables us to pray for women that come to Online for Life considering abortion. When you open the app it tells you each time a woman has contacted a center, kept an appointment, or chosen life so you can pray for that individual and her unborn baby. What an quick and easy way to pray for God's children and ultimately save lives! For families who have experienced abortion, Online for Life also offers a memorial wall that allows women and their loved ones to remember a child lost to abortion. The organization understands the emotional damage this act has on a woman and the life-long hurt they endure, offering compassion and guidance for healing. I think this is a beautiful tool that may begin to offer healing to those who have experienced the pain of abortion. The joyful news, however, is that these children lost to our world are embraced in God's glory in Heaven and each child's mother who believes in Christ will reunite with their son or daughter one day! Praise the Lord! Dear God, Thank you for the miracle of life; what a gift you have given us! Please use me and those working for the pro-life movement to save an unbelievable amount of babies, because anything is possible with You by our side. Give me the words to speak to these scared and overwhelmed mothers that will lead them to choose life. Help them see You in me and be drawn to the love, comfort, and forgiveness only You can provide. I ask You also to pour Your love on those mother's who suffer from enduring an abortion and the feelings of loss and guilt that consume them. Allow each of them to feel and accept Your forgiveness and fill them with joy in knowing that if they recognize Your Son as their Savior, they will be reunited with the child/children they've lost. May you eradicate abortion from this world, Lord. In Jesus' name, Amen.
