Jesus is Coming!

12/11/2013

Since Jesus is almost here (the celebration of His birth), we finally finished decorating to "prepare for his arrival." Most of our previous years' decorations came from the famous Dollar Tree, as it was what I could afford in college, so it was time to upgrade. I went to Marshall's for some discounted decorations and found a couple driftwood pieces made in the Philippines, as well as some neat little phone book decoupaged deer and polar bears. I also bought a sparkly feather wreath that I thought Addie would enjoy.

At Walmart, we picked up a couple fake garland pieces that I added cinnamon scented pinecones and berries to and our little Christmas tree (a real one!). With her being one and into everything, there was no way our tree would last on the ground this year, so we put it on our buffet instead. We added bows, berries, silver balls, and our favorite ornaments from friends, family, and our travels.

Our last stop for decorations was at Michael's. I needed some burlap to wrap the bottom of our tree (an idea I stole from Pottery Barn) and then I wanted to make a wreath for our front door (an idea I stole from my sister-in-law). I used a straw wreath as the base and then wrapped burlap around the outside to cover the straw. After that, I glued on a couple berry pieces and two little birds. I ended up hanging the wreath on a door in our house, since we wouldn't get to enjoy it out on the front door...and nobody comes to our door in El Paso anyway.

Merry Christmas and happy decorating!
