Lincoln's Answered Prayer

A couple weeks ago, we took Lincoln to the doctor for a full body rash and reflux, both of which may be food related. At the end of his appointment I asked the doctor to look at something unique at the base of his spine. The two doctors that had seen Lincoln during previous check-ups didn't mention anything when they turned him over so I assumed everything was fine, but I wanted to inquire further. Immediately, the pediatrician said that we needed to schedule him for a spinal ultrasound at the hospital. She didn't seem overly concerned, but noted that he could have spina bifida occulta (a minor form of spina bifida) and that we'll need to monitor Lincoln in the future to make sure he's walking on time.

Of course, I couldn't wait to get home and learn more about his diagnosis, a term I'd never heard. After researching the identified issue, I was comforted to know that 70 percent of cases are benign, but other possibilities existed. I turned to prayer and God answered as we'd hoped. After seven (brutal) days of waiting, we learned that Lincoln's ultrasound results were normal--praise God!!! We'll continue to pray for his health, but trust God with all our hearts.

Despite some minor reflux, our little guy continues to be a calm, happy baby--the perfect balance to our little firecracker, Addie. Adeline LOVES inviting Lincoln into her world, by having tea parties, decorating him with stickers, piling toys on him, and reading to him often. She'll be elated when the day finally arrives that he can actually play back; for now, he offers her a smile (or a cry when she's too forceful!).
