Making Our House A Home

Well, we've been in our new home for almost two weeks now, but just as soon as we tackle one project there seems to be twenty more looming. The house looks more or less complete, but there are a host of odds and ends that need to be finished. Hopefully we can have everything "done" in another couple weeks. I think it usually takes about a month to start feeling settled and comfortable. Tim's been a machine checking off our to-do list and I feel blessed that he's so handy. However, this home was built in the 70's so it needs quite a bit of fixing up, some we can do ourselves and most of which we're waiting to have fixed by the property management company.

In between all our chores, building, and organizing, we've also been shopping a lot, picking up a random curtain rod, buying a new desk, looking for decor items and the like. The most fun thus far has been shopping for the new baby. We're not planning on decorating the nursery for baby-to-be until he (or she) moves into his room when he's about six months, since we're using that room for guests and an office at this point. But, I did want to look at rockers and baby clothes. We didn't purchase anything for Baby, but Addie helped me try out some double strollers and picked out an outfit for her future sibling.
If anyone has suggestions for double stroller I'll gladly take them! Every stroller I sampled was too bulky, too wide, too uncomfortable, or wouldn't allow for Addie to stand up (which is her preferred method for riding). I sound like Goldilocks--nothing was just right.

Back to the house, there's a huge den that was added onto the living room, which we decided to make a play/music room. Tim set up the drums this weekend and Addie loves the new instrument. She played for about ten minutes during her first session and seemed to know exactly what to do. It was so fun to watch her, but maybe even more fun to watch Tim's excitement and pride over his little musician in the making.
