Mary's Christmas

Merry Christmas Eve, from our family to yours! I hope tonight finds you surrounded by those you love and in worship of "baby" Jesus. Today I find myself thinking about Mary as I never have before. As a new mother to our Adeline, I now see the significance of Mary's role much more vividly than I did before having a child of my own. I had a warm hospital bed, trained medical staff, family, and anesthesia to help me bring Adeline into the world; Mary only had her husband and a manger.

As I rocked my baby to sleep this morning, the most glorious feeling imaginable, I pictured putting Jesus to sleep on my chest. The believed sensation literally brought tears to my eyes. Can you fathom being responsible for God's son? Cuddling His innocent infant body against your own? Loving Him as your child? What a miraculous gift, and ultimately, heartbreaking sacrifice for one woman's heart to handle. Thank you, Mary, for taking care of our King, and bringing Him to us this Christmas Eve.

Please enjoy this beautiful monologue about Jesus' birth, from His mother's perspective, as well as the following YouTube video to the song, "You're Here," also from Mary's point of view. This is my absolute favorite Christmas song! I listen to it throughout the year and fall in love with the lyrics and music every single time. Join me this Christmas Eve in giving thanks to God for the present of Jesus, through his earthly mother, Mary.
