Name Game

One of the most frequent questions I get when discussing the baby is "Do you have a name yet?" I actually don't know anyone, beside my mom and dad, who didn't have a name chosen before their child arrived. Although Tim and I have talked about it over and over, we're still not set on a name for Baby A. Part of me feels like I need to see her before we can give her a name she'll have forever. The names we liked from the very beginning were Stella and Cora, and now Adeline is in the mix too. Originally we liked the middle name Russo (my maiden name, before it was changed to Ross). We especially liked this name if we went with Stella and Tim sweetly called her Stella-Ru for fun. Then came the idea to incorporate our grandparents' names and decided we'd go with our grandfathers'--James for a middle name if it was a boy (after my maternal grandfather) and Claire for a middle name if it was a girl (after Tim's paternal grandfather, Clarence). We also like the meanings of names and want to consider that, too.
Stella=star
Cora=maiden; giving girl
Adeline=sweet;noble
Claire=pure; smart
The two names I like just for their meaning are Arabelle=answer to a prayer and Shiloh=gift from God. The last items to check off the name criteria are that I have to be able to shorten it (like Ash for Ashley) and it can't be too popular; there were waaaay too many Ashleys growing up. Who knows, maybe we'll come up with something completely different before she's here.
