Potty Time...Maybe

PictureStill working on the entry approach...
Every time Adeline approaches a new milestone in her development I RESEARCH! Then, I end up exhausting myself in attempt to make sure I'm teaching her the best, most effective way, or she's consuming the healthiest foods, or she's bathing in the right soap, or she's using the highest recommended product. Whew! This time around, for now, I'm backing off from the internet search. I'm going to go with instinct and advice from other moms who have been there.

My grandma purchased this potty for Adeline last month and she's so enjoyed inspecting every inch of it. I've already appreciated not having to research every potty out there (checking quality, price, and parent reviews). This one seems perfect, and I like the color to boot!

A couple weeks ago, Addie started telling me when she's pooped, not every time, but often so I began by saying "potty." She knows where her toilet is located and I take her to sit on it when she tells me "poo" or "potty," I hear her grunting, see that look of determined concentration, or the shiver when she pees. She'll sit on the potty for about 30 seconds to a minute before wanting to continue on her way. She's yet to actually go in the potty, but I feel like we're off to a good start.

I'm in no hurry to get her potty-trained. It's actually kind of a pain to take her diaper off each time I see she needs to sit on the potty, and to put it back on afterwards is the real struggle. Girl HATES getting a diaper change. When I see she's gone in her diaper I often take her straight to the potty. I suppose I need to move some fresh diapers and wipes near her potty so I'm not carrying a poop-covered booty back to the changing table after a stint on the pot.

All in all, I'm enjoying this milestone experience a little more since I'm not stressing myself out trying to get her trained to do something new. She'll do it when she does it. But, I'd love any tips from parents who have been there, so please leave me a comment with any suggestions and tricks that worked for you!
