With school back in full swing and technology more pervasive than we’d ever like, our teen and tween girls are deeply entrenched in the comparison battle and trying to figure out their identities. Am I pretty enough? What do I need to do to fit into her jean size? Am I buying the right clothes to be trendy? Am I loved? Without a strong sense of identity, they’ll fall into believing lies about themselves. We must expose them to the truth—that they’re unique, beloved, and created with a purpose. Here are three companies that will help you affirm your daughter’s worth through their products, apps, and live events.
For Girls Like You For Girls Like You offers many resources to encourage, equip, and teach your tweens and teens to live a life that honors God. The monthly magazine is a piece of art in itself. Each issue contains a devotional, art project ideas, jokes, service project inspirations, interactive pages, and more. You’ll also find planners and devotionals in their shop. They also have several books by the founder’s three daughters that teach about perseverance, patience, and kindness through likable hobbies and professions like acting, baking, singing, and dancing. The novels are factual and fictional, retelling the last few years of the Pitts sisters’ lives. These books are even a part of the Accelerated Reader program! Visit their website here. True Girl The mission of True Girl is to raise girls who are confident in their faith and themselves, even in the culture. In addition, this organization values mother-daughter connections and creates opportunities for moms and daughters to explore Biblical truths together so they can each grow deeper in their faith. Earlier this year, I took my daughter to the True Girl Pajama Party when the tour came to North Carolina. It was perfect for the tween age group, from the sparkly outfits to the music, the giant beach ball passed around the room, and the funny panda character on stage. But the best part of the event was the genuine messages the True Girl performers taught on stage. I’ve never seen my daughter as engaged and enthusiastic as she exclaimed, “This was the best night of my life!” She stood on the seats belting out songs, dancing, and listening to wise women speak truth into her life. I couldn’t ask for more as a mom. True Girl also offers many books, devotionals, and a quarterly subscription box. Lastly, you can download their podcast that explores God’s truth, created to be enjoyed by tween girls and their moms. Check out all True Girl has to offer here. GEMS GEMS aims to help girls feel confident, secure and loved for who they are. They provide resources to equip moms, mentors, and ministry leaders to understand the challenges girls face today and teach them that they are loved by God no matter what. GEMS has no shortage of items in their shop to keep your girl entertained and learning important truths. One of those items is a fun faith-based subscription box that goes out quarterly. Each box is filled with items your tween is sure to enjoy. You’ll also find bracelets, shirts, curriculum, and much more. In addition, GEMS offers two magazines for you to choose from, Sparkle and Shine Brightly. If that’s not enough, they even have a podcast for tween girls called ReFyne, designed to equip girls with God’s Truth and strengthen their confidence. Enjoy learning about everything GEMS offers by visiting their website.
