Sleepy Days

Being a mother certainly takes the sleep out of you! Everyone tells you to enjoy sleep during pregnancy because you'll never sleep again...and it's a pretty accurate statement. However, newborns do seem to sleep all the time and I'm trying to be better about napping when Addie naps. The first four days of her life I slept about 2 hours in 4 days--exhausting! And when we got home I wasn't good about sleeping when she was. But that all catches up with you and the need for sleep prevails. And now with Adeline having to eat more frequently, sleep comes in much shorter spurts. Since she has to eat approximately every two hours, by the time she feeds, is held for 30 minutes, and falls asleep again, only about an hour remains before we have to start the cycle over again. With Tim being gone this week it's forced me to sleep during the day when she's asleep since I don't have any reprieve at night...and our little munchkin is always more awake once the sun goes down. So, I'm feeling a little better and more rested, even though my sleep is only coming in one hour increments.
