Sour Apples and Tantrums

I bought Tim a few things from Banana Republic for Father's Day. Since I'm a sucker for deals and BR, the outlet mall was the perfect place to shop. Everything was 50% off in lieu of the holiday. One shirt didn't fit him so Addie and I trekked back to the mall at the edge of town for a return. It turned out to be a fun (and tantrum filled) afternoon.

The outlet mall is an outdoor one, so Adeline was excited to explore; however, I parked right by BR with the intention of getting the return out of the way. She was NOT happy to be held captive in line at the start of her adventure, especially as the jewelry tower beckoned her little fingers and mama denied her the pleasure of destruction. Luckily, a mechanical horse sat outside the store and she returned to a gleeful state. This small horse ride cost $1 to ride, outrageous! Luckily, I had enough quarters for her to enjoy a ride, but then it was over...cue tantrum. After we said "bye horsey," I tried to entice a smile by entering the Disney store. She finally lit up when we encountered a giant stuffed Minnie. However, when we had to put Minnie back to leave...you guessed it. The cashier tried to soothe her with a sticker, which she initially declined, but then accepted with a "tank you."

Next, we HAD to stop at Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory. I can't pass that place without getting a carmel apple. We sampled chocolate covered potato chips (yum!) and then picked out a "bear cub apple," a granny smith apple covered in carmel, milk chocolate, and white chocolate--heaven! We sat by the fountain where Addie dipped her toes in the water and doused us both in melted chocolate.
After our gourmet treat, she spotted a mechanical helicopter and had to fly it. This time I didn't pay a buck, but she was just as happy to pretend fly. All in all, a nice afternoon in the scorching El Paso summer.
