Spring Clean for God's Cause

Day 32
This weekend our church requested we bring in clothes that no longer fit or don't get used, in order to support an El Paso organization that offers free clothes to those in need. I scoured my dresser drawers and closet for threads I no longer wear. I definitely believe in the general rule for cleaning out your closet: if you haven't worn an item in the last year, get rid of it. It was also an excellent opportunity for me since another Army move is rapidly approaching; the less we take the better! However, there are a feeeeew things that I keep around for the "just in case" scenario. Now, I have to get Tim to add to the pile. That man has a TOUGH time purging, but between five years of me pestering him to not be a hoarder and all the Army moves, he's getting a tad better. As the scent of spring is in the air (for those on the West Coast, anyway), consider using the Scripture verses below to inspire some spring cleaning for God's cause:
  • "Whoever is generous to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will repay him for his deed." --Proverbs 19:17
  • "...whoever has two tunics is to share with him who has none, and whoever has food is to do likewise." --Luke 3:11
  • "...you shall open wide your hand to your brother, to the needy and the poor, in your land." --Deuteronomy 15:11
  • "...blessed is he who is generous to the poor." --Proverbs 14:21

40 Day Challenge--Day 32:

Donate to the needy in your community. Consider donating clothes, food, or your time to those who are less fortunate. Check out options through your church, local organizations, Salvation Army, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Goodwill, or a nearby military installations's Enlisted Soldier Center.
