Summer Vaca

As summer has progressed I've certainly slacked on my blogging! But I've had a good excuse this past week as my mom, Adeline, and I traveled to Austin, Belton, and Harker Heights. I went to celebrate a baby shower for my dear friend who tried to get pregnant for two years. Last Thursday we left Tucson at 5 A.M. to drive to Phoenix. Addie did wonderful on the way up and was ready for a nap just in time for the flight, perfect...except that she's too curious for her own good and couldn't fall asleep. She whined most of the time, no real crying thankfully, and had loads of fun looking through the seats at the people sitting behind us. Once we got settled in the rental car she FINALLY fell asleep after 8 hours of being awake! I so enjoyed the scenery and TREES as we made out way to Belton. That night we had dinner with our beloved neighbors who I miss terribly. They really are family to us. It was so fun to see Adeline with her Grammy and Pappy (as their grandkids call them). The next day we met them again to see Dawson, their dog, and view their new home. That afternoon I had lunch with Vanessa and Mike, the expectant parents, on the creek in Belton. I was so excited to see them and catch up; Vanessa is a once-in-a-lifetime friend that I truly cherish. I cannot wait for her little daughter, Norah, to be born so Addie can meet her future best friend =). That night we had dinner at Cracker Barrel with a couple more friends who I used to teach with. I miss my girls so much! The next day we went shopping in the adorable town of Salado followed up by more girl time with my friends. The next day we said goodbye to Sweet Bunnie and then drove to Round Rock for the baby shower. It was so fun to celebrate Norah's soon-to-be arrival and spend more time with friends. After the shower we drove to Austin and spent the weekend watching the bats fly out from Congress Bridge, swimming, eating at yummy restaurants, walking down 6th street, seeing the botanical gardens, strolling in the park, and splashing in the fountain. Leaving Austin was not nearly as pleasant as Addie was one of THOSE babies on the plane...yikes. For two hours Addie squirmed back and forth between my mom and me and screamed on and off. I've never been more exhausted and eager to land! But we made it, and overall she did fantastic on her first vacation.  Looking forward to the next one with Tim!
