The First/Second Father's Day

Sadly, Tim didn't get to experience his first Father's Day with his girl as he was deployed to Afghanistan. So, although this year was really his second celebration, it felt like the first. We started the day by decorating the house with little signs while Tim attempted to sleep in, despite Addie's noisiness due to tape frustration.
After decorating, Addie and I ran up to get breakfast burritos. When we got back Tim was up so we ate breakfast and followed that up with cards and presents. Addie got Tim a book for the two to read at bedtime and I got him some some new summer clothes and a gift card.

After a morning nap, we went to Firehouse Subs for a quick lunch before church. Addie loved the fireman's hat she received and sported it proudly later in the day while helping with the laundry =).

Definitely the best part of Father's Day was when Addie said "I love you" for the first time. Tim took her to the community pool for a swim and when they got back she was saying those three perfect words. I cried the first time I heard it--so cute! She can't pronounce her l's yet, making it sound even sweeter =).
Then, Tim grilled steaks for dinner and we enjoyed a Heath blizzard cake from Dairy Queen for dessert. It was a great day celebrating all he does for our Adeline. To think, next year we'll have another baby to join in the celebration!

Happy Father's Day Tim. Addie is one very lucky girl. I remember when our first grandchild said I love you Grandma, it really makes your heart swell.
