The Ultimate Sacrifice

Tragically, two more American soldiers have paid the ultimate sacrifice in protecting our freedoms. On the morning of April 9th, two apache pilots who were attached to Tim's unit perished in a helicopter crash. The cause is still unknown, but the names of these pilots have been released: Chief Warrant Officer 3 Matthew Ruffner, 34, and Chief Warrant Officer 2 Jarrett Yoder, 27. I learned of this incident via facebook when I saw a post from another military wife asking for prayers for the aviation community. I scrolled down a little further and found an article posted by another wife that told of the recent crash. After that I checked my email and found a message from the brigade commander telling families of this news. I quickly emailed Tim to get confirmation that he was okay. As soon as I sent off the email I heard the dogs barking at the door. I repeated, "no, no, no, no, no" to myself as I ran downstairs to ensure there wasn't a black SUV in the driveway or a chaplain and commander at my door. Thank God, no one was there. But tragically, that was happening to two families in Pennsylvania as they received the news of the loss of their loved one. Minutes later, Tim emailed me that he was okay, as were all the soldiers in his company. The soldiers who passed away were stationed at Jalalabad, where a large portion of his brigade operates.

Please pray that the families of these brave soldiers feel God's presence in their time of sorrow. One of the wives of Tim's soldiers that passed away on their last deployment asked for people to pray that these families simply be able to breathe. God bless our gold star families!

What a sad day for those famlies. So glad Tim and his unit are safe. What a horrible experience that must have been for you hearing the dags bark and just imagining the worst. You are all in our prayers.
