Week 23

It's hard to believe that in approximately 17 weeks our little one will be welcomed into the world! My belly is certainly stretching and feeling rather tight. And yet there is still so much more growing left to do. This week baby girl is approximately one pound and over 11 inches long. The comparable fruit is a mango this week. Babycenter's website explains that her ears are picking up sounds from the outside and the sounds she's hearing now will be something she's used to once she's born, even barking dogs! That's great news since Wilma is the just about barkiest dog around. The blood vessels in her lungs are also developing to prepare her for breathing. And her sense of movement is well developed; she can even feel me dance, although I feel her moving around the most when I'm sitting or lying down. It amazes me every single time I feel her kick and it's starting to feel quite strong from the outside, too. As for me, I wanted to see if I could make it through the morning without my nausea meds, but only last about ten minutes before the gagging and running to the toilet began. But as soon as I took the pill I felt normal again. Guess this medicine will be with me for the foreseeable future.
